Possession Trance is a live performance project created by Ryan Jordan, artist and curator of the noise=noise events series. Slowly mutating since 2008, the performance uses a combination of minerals, metals, electronic circuits, high powered stroboscopes, dense smoke, high volume noise and ritual incense in an attempt to create powerful, hallucinatory phenomena within the performer and audience members alike. This workshop will dissect, explore and present the performance to participants so they may learn, adapt and incorporate these concepts into their own practice.
The Possession Trance Workshop is divided into three parts:
  1. Presentation
Participants will be introduced to the artists practice and contextual background of the project.
  2. Construction

Participants will construct very crude, self-made solar cells from copper; and audio amplifiers using integrated circuits and electronic components. These will then be used to convert stroboscopic light into audible noise.
  3. Live
Participants are invited to join a collaborative live performance in the evening at the nnnnn x telegrafia gig taking place in the same location later that evening.
Attendance to this workshop requires no previous experience in electronics, music or art. All materials are provided and participants keep what they make.
**Please note** The workshop may not be suitable for people with photosensitive epilepsy as stroboscopic light will be used.
Date and time:
Saturday 27th May 2023
13:00 – 17:00
Entry is £40 per person.
The group will be limited to 8 participants.
