About

Telegrafía is a recording studio and multimedia production space based in Highgate, North London; catering to creatives working across sound, image and digital media, combining state-of-the-art facilities, industry-leading expertise, and an environment curated to allow unrestricted freedom for experimentation and creative flow.

A place for Music, Media & Mad Science.

Established in 2022 by artist, producer & engineer Tyrian Purple, drawing upon a rich background in technical production, live events, digital and physical media, and imbued with the passion informed by a lifetime’s participation in London’s creative circuit.

Our studios were originally based in Hackney, East London, hidden in plain sight in a basement beneath the bustling heart of Mare Street. The studios quickly became a favoured spot for recording and project work by many in the local creative community, while also hosting our eclectic programme of live events and workshops, becoming renowned as a top destination for London’s experimental music scene.

Following a brief period of hiatus, in 2026 Telegrafía relocated to its current home in the vibrant neighbourhood of Highgate Village, beginning a new chapter with an expanded focus on emerging media.

Telegrafía is named after the Spanish word for telegraphy, inspired by the fascinating history of communications technologies developed since the early nineteenth century; a story marked by bold ideas, engineering ingenuity and creative approaches to problem-solving. It is also an area deeply intertwined with early innovations in audio engineering and electronic music.

The systems designed to transmit ideas and information actively transformed the very nature of those ideas, the technology itself becoming material for creative expression, and ultimately shaping the foundations of society as we know it today.

To us, the name Telegrafía honours this spirit of innovation, and symbolises the core focus of our work at the intersection of art, technology, and culture.
